Apply to MSc./Ph.D. - Foreign candidates (until 22 Jan 2021!)

For MSc. Applicants:


*All Ph.D. applicants need to have concluded a MSc. degree before application. If you do not hold a MSc. diploma, you cannot apply directly to the Ph.D. program. Exceptional MSc. students can be recommended a direct transfer to the PhD program. In this case, the student will start as a MSc. Student and continue in the Ph.D program after completing the first year of the Masters. The duration of the MSc. program is two years.

Fill in your information with the required information. If you are international applicant, you only need to fill the passport number under the Documents tab.


Be prepared to provide scanned (PDF) copies of the following documents:


  1. Identification (scan of one document with photograph, such as passport (preferable), driver’s license, etc.)

  2. Copy of Bachelor’s diploma

  3. Bachelor’s transcripts

  4. Project - must contain a maximum of three pages (excluding References), with the following items:

    1. Title;

    2. Candidate's name;

    3. Name of potential advisor;

    4. Discipline of study (Zoology or Ecology or Conservation or Evolution Biology);

    5. Abstract (maximum 100 words);

    6. Introduction;

    7. Objectives and Hypotheses;

    8. Methods;

    9. Potentials collaborators within the program (in this field the candidate must indicate other Professors in addition to the potential advisor who may contribute to the candidate's project; go to https://www.ufsm.br/cursos/pos-graduacao/santa-maria/ppgba/docentes/ for more information);

    10. Expected results;

    11. Potential broader impact of the project;

    12. Technical and financial feasibility

    13. References The items: “Technical and financial feasibility” and “References” must appear at the end of the project, and may exceed the three-pages limit. The text must be formatted with 2.5 cm margins, 1.5 spacing between lines, Times New Roman font, size 12.

After finishing this process, register your CV in:


Include information on published or accepted scientific papers, books, book chapters, and conferences attended in the last five years. Evaluation will consider seven years for female candidates with children under 5.
